<p>20 minutes after your last cigarette, your blood pressure decreases, your pulse rate drops, and your body temperature of your hands and feet increases. 8 hours later your carbon monoxide level in blood drops to normal while oxygen level in blood increases to normal.</p>
<p>24 hours is all it takes, before the chance of heart attack decreases. And 48 hours after you have stopped smoking, your nerve endings begin to growth again. Your ability to smell and taste will also be improved. After 72 hours your breathing will be easier.</p>
<p>The following weeks and month your will improve your circulation. Walking will be easier and your lung function will increase. The nicotine withdrawal symptom will subside after the first month, so you will be able to focus on the psychological need for a cigarette.</p>
<p>One year from now, the risk of coronary heart has decreased to half. And because smoking can directly be linked to 30 % of all heart disease deaths in the United States each year, this is very significant.</p>
<p>It is not only the short-term benefits, which makes it worth quitting. The risk of a stroke has been reduced to the same as people who have never smoked after only 5 years. And the risk of lung cancer drops to one-half that of the smokers after 10 years. The risk of other cancer types will also decrease; including the risk of cancer in the throat, esophagus, kidney, mouth, and pancreas.</p>
<p>15 years from now, the risk of a hearts disease will be the same as people who have never smoked. In general the risk of death will be almost at the same level of people who have never smoked.</p>
<p>So stop smoking today and see the result already tomorrow. But remember that it is an ongoing process to heal from a nicotine addiction. So expect quick improvements, but do also realize that other improvements will happen more step by step.</p>

How about &#8220;I&#8217;m going to try AGAIN&#8221;, or &#8220;Might as well give it another shot, what have I got to lose.&#8221; You can&#8217;t think like this. A famous quote and pardon me for not knowing who said it, states that &#8216;Nobody who tries anything, accomplishes very much.&#8217; And the same is true for quitting smoking.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t be led astray by your own beliefs by saying the word &#8216;try&#8217;. Don&#8217;t even use it to soften your words to your friends. Using this word will do nothing but set you up for future failure.</p>
<p>Let me give you an example. My wife has a fear of roller coasters and fast rides. I know she doesn&#8217;t haven&#8217;t a fear or heights or a fear of going at the speeds the coasters go, but for some reason I have not yet been able to determine, she doesn&#8217;t like roller coasters.</p>
<p>In any case, there have been occasions when my son and I have been able to convince her to stand in line with us and have got her to say &#8216;I&#8217;ll try.&#8217; But here&#8217;s the thing; every time we get near the loading lane, she bails out and decides to wait for us at the end instead.</p>
<p>So what gives her a way out? The word &#8216;try&#8217; of course. Trying isn&#8217;t like promising or really committing to something. It&#8217;s more like a convenience. And saying you&#8217;ll try isn&#8217;t going to work when quitting smoking because whether you realize it or not, you&#8217;ve probably set yourself up for failure because now you&#8217;ve allowed yourself a way out.</p>
<p>I encourage you to seek out any smoker who has failed in their quest to quit and in almost all of the cases they will say these exact words to you &#8211; I tried! And perhaps they might even say that they soon plan to &#8216;try&#8217; again.</p>
<p>Try and do that with this statement &#8211; &#8220;I am quitting (enter your chosen date) for good. For the good of my health; for the good of my family and for the good of my finances. FOR GOOD!&#8221; No excuses. You see the difference. You cannot allow any alternative options or &#8216;outs&#8217; for yourself. You must commit fully and stick to your resolution. Of course your commitment doesn&#8217;t have to say exactly that but it must state the most powerful reasons as to why you want to quit.</p>
<p>Put this commitment in writing. Carry it with you everywhere. Have a copy in your vehicle; distributed around the house. Anywhere you can see it to remind yourself of what your true desires are. It will make all the difference in becoming a non-smoker.</p>

<p>Nicotine inhaled into your system reaches the brain faster than any other drug except heroin and morphine. Good company right? Each puff you take is another stimulant to your brain. Sure there is a habit factor involved like lighting up, having something to hold in your hand, even going to the store to buy cigarettes. But the real addiction is in your mind, your brain actually.</p>
<p>You can stop biting your finger nails by learning to relax or being aware that you are biting your finger nails. Sometimes if we simply become aware of habit we can simply say stop and we stop. <p>I stopped smoking for health reasons. Now do not get me wrong. I was never a one or two pack a day smoker. No, I smoked when I was in my twenties when I went out drinking with friends. I did this for about a year. Then one day I went to play full court basketball like I used to growing up. I spent the second half of the game bent over fighting to breathe. <p>But when I was younger I started smoking when I got out of college. I did to because I used to go out drinking with friends who smoked so I smoked. I decided when I returned home to light up occasionally like at our monthly poker game. And then I decided to have only one cigarette when I got home from work. I actually smoked my one cigarette in the bathroom. One particularly tough day at work I thought about smoking my one cigarette when I got home. Suddenly I felt good, my body and mind relaxed knowing that soon I would be puffing away in my bathroom.</p>
<p>I decided not to smoke my cigarette that night when I got home. No I tossed the pack in the trash. I thought if I looked forward to a smoke to ease my day at work then I had a bigger problem than a hard day at work. And the problem was in my mind, my brain actually. <p>What is an electronic cigarette? The electronic cigarette has been in existence for almost three years and is a clever device aimed at providing smokers with a healthier option. Apparently also useful in helping to reduce and indeed quit smoking altogether.</p>
